About

Alepou is a traditional ouzeri located near Skala Eresou, the bohemian seaside village on the southwestern tip of Lesvos. As its category suggests, this is a place where the Greek ritual of ouzo and mezedes takes center stage — a convivial spot where locals and visitors alike pull up a chair, order a carafe of ouzo or tsipouro, and settle in for the slow, sociable rhythm that defines island leisure.

Ouzeries like Alepou are the heartbeat of Greek social life, serving not just drinks but a procession of small plates — grilled octopus, marinated anchovies, taramasalata, fried cheese, olives — designed to accompany conversation rather than rush it. The beer hall designation hints at a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere where the emphasis is on good company and honest food rather than formality.

Skala Eresou's laid-back, artistic vibe makes it an ideal setting for exactly this kind of place. Visitors who have spent the day on the long sandy beach or exploring the surrounding olive groves and petrified forest landscapes will find Alepou a natural end to the afternoon, where the pace slows, glasses are refilled, and the evening unfolds at its own easy pace.

Before you go

What to expect

Pull up a chair, order a carafe of ouzo, and let the small plates arrive at their own pace — grilled octopus, fried cheese, a dish of olives. The atmosphere is unpretentious and unhurried; this is somewhere people linger for hours, conversation carrying the evening forward long after the light fades.

Best time to visit

Late May through October is ideal; summer evenings in Skala Eresou carry a warm sea breeze and the village settles into a particularly convivial rhythm after sundown.

How to get there

Skala Eresou sits at the southwestern end of Lesvos, roughly an hour's drive from Mytilene heading west across the island through mountain villages.

Alepou is easily one of my favorites! I just moved to Eressos. Thanks to this wonderful place, my winter was magical. The owner, Peny, is the sweeties host. She cooks really great food ( the hamburgers are stellar). Alepou has over 135 different beers from all over the world, to be enjoyed on the seafront terrace. This place is just amazing!

Beautiful shop in front of the sea, the beach does not have sun loungers, so you sit here and enjoy your bath. Many labels of beers from small breweries, reasonable prices, small plates.
