About
Olive Tree Souvenirs is a charming souvenir shop located in Molyvos, one of the most picturesque medieval villages on Lesvos, perched beneath its imposing Byzantine castle on the island's northern coast. The shop draws its name and inspiration from one of Lesvos's most iconic symbols — the ancient olive tree — which has shaped the island's culture, economy, and identity for thousands of years.
Visitors stopping in will find a curated selection of locally inspired gifts and mementos, likely including olive wood crafts, traditional Greek ceramics, artisan jewelry, and keepsakes that capture the spirit of this extraordinary Aegean island. Shops of this kind in Molyvos serve as a wonderful opportunity to bring a piece of Lesvos home, whether that means hand-painted pottery, aromatic olive oil products, or textiles reflecting the island's rich folk traditions.
Molyvos itself is one of the most rewarding destinations on Lesvos for leisurely browsing, with its cobblestone lanes, ottom-era stone houses draped in bougainvillea, and a lively harbor scene. Tucking into a shop like Olive Tree Souvenirs is part of the pleasure of wandering this village — a chance to support local craft and trade while finding something genuinely meaningful to carry away from your time on the island.
Before you go
What to expect
Browsing here is an unhurried pleasure — the olive-wood pieces and hand-painted ceramics feel genuinely selected rather than shipped in bulk, and the compact space invites you to linger. Expect the kind of gifts that actually travel well: aromatic olive oil products, folk-patterned textiles, and small artisan pieces that carry a clear sense of where they come from.
Best time to visit
Open through the main tourist season; May to October suits a visit well, with the village at its most animated from June through August.
How to get there
From Mytilene, follow the main road northwest toward Molyvos — the drive typically takes just over an hour. Once in the village, the shop is within easy walking distance of the castle and the central lane.

A must visit store if you're passing through. Hosted by a very friendly and helpful couple. As a Scandinavian, it was extra nice to avoid the "just for you, my friend" a la bazaar that some other stores exuded.

A souvenir shop in the most famous shopping street (agora) of Molyvos. Run by Andreas and Tania Clinckspoor. Tania was a hostess for a tour operator about 20 years ago and fell in love with Andreas, got married, and ended up staying on Lesbos. You'll find all sorts of souvenirs to take home. The gifts are packaged exceptionally well, perfect for tucking into your suitcase. Tania speaks Dutch, Greek, Turkish, English, and French...in short, you'll usually be served in your own language...if that's not service. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and don't already have a gift to take home! Next to their shop is the entrance to the church...it's not difficult to find.
