About

Perched in the hills above Plomari, Lesvos's celebrated ouzo capital on the island's southern coast, Panorama Apartments offers guests a comfortable base from which to explore one of the most authentic and unhurried corners of the Aegean. The name speaks for itself: the elevated position rewards visitors with sweeping views across the terracotta rooftops of Plomari and out toward the shimmering blue of the Gulf of Gera, a scene that shifts beautifully through the day as the light moves across the water.

Plomari itself is a town of genuine character, built around a working harbor and long associated with the production of Lesvos ouzo, a tradition that has given the area a distinct identity among Greek spirits lovers. Staying at Panorama Apartments puts visitors within easy reach of the town's distilleries, waterfront tavernas, and the pebbled beaches that fringe the coastline nearby, including the popular stretch at Agios Isidoros. The apartments suit independent travelers who prefer the freedom of self-catering accommodation over a hotel, with the space to settle in and experience Lesvos at their own pace.

For those looking to use southern Lesvos as a home base, the location is well placed for day trips to the petrified forest near Sigri to the west, the traditional village of Vatera with its long sandy beach, or the winding mountain roads that lead up through olive groves to the island's interior. Panorama Apartments offers something increasingly valued by discerning travelers: a quiet, grounded place to stay that feels genuinely connected to the landscape and life of the island rather than apart from it.

Before you go

What to expect

Morning coffee on the terrace with the Gulf of Gera spread below sets the rhythm of a stay here. The apartments give you a self-catering base in the hills above Plomari, so you can walk down to taste ouzo at the town's working distilleries or eat at a waterfront taverna and return at your own pace. It's a genuinely quiet corner of the Aegean where the shifting light over the water makes it hard to leave the terrace.

Best time to visit

Late May through September for warm weather and beach swimming; July and August are the busiest and hottest months, so early summer or September gives the same sunshine with noticeably fewer people.

How to get there

From Mytilene, drive south through olive groves toward Plomari, a journey of roughly 35 to 40 minutes. The apartments sit on the hillside above the town — follow signs upward from the harbor area.

Maria was so accomodating and hospitable to my family with a last minute need for accomodation. The apartment was perfectly sized for my husband and I, plus 2 small children, with a beautiful view of Plomari from the balcony and good walking distance from the town centre. The hill to get up to Panorama is very steep, however if my family can manage it with a toddler, baby, pram etc. in tow, anyone can ☺️ it was a good way to burn off all the beautiful food we were eating!

What a wonderful location, great views from the apartment and just a short walk into Plomari. The apartment was very spacious and fully equipped. The owner Maria was very friendly and helpful. Our stay was only for a couple of nights in September 2023. We enjoyed it so much we are going back for longer in September this year.
