Fantastic location on a large pebble beach, well worth the effort to get there. Food was fresh & reasonably priced, service with a friendly smile. Highly recommended.
Very nice food from a family taverna. Meni and her mother prepare very nice food and drinks. Taverna has clean toilets and great terrassed views of the sea/Turkish coast. It can get busy from 12:00-15:00 so be patient, it's worth it.
About
A beachfront taverna in Efthalou offering fresh seafood and Greek specialties with stunning Aegean views. Known for excellent beer selection, outdoor seating, and authentic hospitality, with direct beach access and proximity to the famous thermal springs. Perfect for lunch or dinner with a casual, welcoming atmosphere for solo diners and families alike.
Before you go
What to expect
Tables spill out onto the sand itself, so you eat with the Aegean stretching right in front of you and a sea breeze coming off the water. The kitchen leans into whatever came in fresh that day — grilled fish, seafood mezedes — and the beer is cold and well-chosen. After the meal, the thermal springs at Efthalou are a short walk away, making it easy to combine both in one unhurried afternoon.
Best time to visit
May through October for outdoor dining; July and August bring the most visitors, so arrive early if you want a table at the water's edge.
How to get there
Efthalou is roughly 42 km north of Mytilene — about an hour's drive along the north coast road, passing through Kalloni and continuing toward Molyvos; the restaurant sits directly on the beach at the edge of the village.

If you park before the hot springs in Efthalou and walk straight to the beach, you might think there are just a few rooms for rent here. But if that's all you see, you're missing out on a truly awesome taverna with stunning views and delicious food. I don't know if Mani, the cook, uses family recipes, but her food is seriously tasty and full of flavor. My absolute favorite is the shrimp saganaki, but you should also try the veal in red sauce and the zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese. It's true — this might not be the cheapest taverna on the island, but the prices are within reasonable limits, and you’re paying for high-quality Greek food made with care and an unbeatable location.

This restaurant has quickly become one of our absolute favorites for Greek cuisine. Mena, the owner, is an exceptional cook, and every dish she prepares is simply delicious. The restaurant is beautifully located by the sea, offering stunning views—on one occasion, we even saw dolphins swimming by! We come here often and always enjoy both the amazing food and the excellent coffee. The atmosphere, the food, and the service are all impeccable. Highly recommend!

i) about half of the options on the menu were not available and in total (containing the unavailable ones) they were about 15 ii) understaffed. There were two waiters who were slow and couldn't keep up. Apparently the administration has no managing skills. iii) the (head-)waitress was rather rude. Her assistant took our order and I asked for a drink that was listed on the menu. Ten minutes later the waitress comes and in rather impolite fashion asks who ordered this specific drink. She acted surprised that I'd made the specific order and proposed I get what I asked for from another restaurant. Again my issue here is her lack of manners. iv) When tables emptied they wouldn't clean them up and just leave the plates pile up. When new customers arrived the waitress requested they'd sit at a clean table and even asked from a group of customers to clean up the table they wanted (photos below) v) the food was mediocre at best and a bit pricey considering its quality and the quantity. We ordered soutzoukakia (a kind of meatballs) which were cold and instead of actual tomato sauce they were covered in ketchup.

İt's a good place but not the best. Fried Calamari was delicious. Other food average. Nice view. You have to park to the hill and walk downstairs. Staff was friendly but they forgot to bring our uozo and Fanta. Prices are above average. 4 stars.

Good location, that's why it's popular. Food wasn't bad, just average. But this mayonnaise in the salad was way too much. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and tons of mayonnaise? I wouldn't visit next time. They don't serve coffee.

Good food, perfect views and admired by locals. Really secluded, romantic place with a nice host. Beetroot salad is a recommendation. Patience required during low season.

Golden Beach restaurant at Eftalou. Thus was one of our very favourite places to visit on beautiful Lesvos. The location is gorgeous. It's well away from the tourist resorts. At the end of the paved road from Molyvos to the hot springs in Eftalou. You'll need transport (there is a service bus that stops not too far away) or have to love walking to get there but when you do it's so worth it. The restaurant is right on the beach and next to an old church. They offer rooms for rent by the night for €40 for 2 in a double room (September 2022). Not self catering, you eat in the restaurant. The beach is pebbles and so secluded. You can walk there along the beach from the hot springs nearby or walk down the steps. Luckily there's a handrail. Next to the steps you'll be able to see the ancient contraption they use to deliver their goods to the restaurant. The paved road is a dirt track when you get to the steps so best to park a car down by the hot springs where the paved road ends because parking is very limited near the top of the steps. Visit in daylight first because it's not an easy place to get to. We absolutely loved it there.

Tavern located over the.deserted hot bath of Eftalou near Molyvos ine the north east of Lesvos island. Rude administration. First they announced that the kitchen is going to close from 16:00 to 17:00 because the personnel is not enough. Then they proposed that if we do not want to wait much further every table should order different food because they cannot prepare only one kind in a quantity. They also complained to the customers we decided to visit the tavern together in the specific date ( the death of Holy Mary), a great holiday for the orthodox church. And finally they complained about not having enough tourism in the territory....😤😤😤
Make a day of it
