About
Tucked into the quiet countryside near the small village of Melida in central Lesvos, Psaros Melinta is a local establishment that embodies the unhurried, genuine character of inland island life. Far from the coastal crowds, this part of Lesvos is defined by olive groves, stone-walled fields, and a pace of living that has changed little over generations. Stopping here offers travelers a chance to step off the well-worn tourist trail and experience Lesvos as the locals know it.
Whether you come for a coffee, a meal, or simply to linger in the shade and take in the surroundings, Psaros Melinta carries the warmth typical of a family-run business in a close-knit village community. Establishments like this in the Lesvos interior often draw on the island's exceptional local produce — the celebrated extra-virgin olive oil pressed from centuries-old trees, fresh cheeses, and seasonal vegetables grown in nearby plots. Conversations here tend to be generous and unhurried, and the hospitality reflects a culture that has always welcomed the passing stranger.
For visitors exploring Lesvos beyond its famous beaches and petrified forest, the villages of the interior offer something rarer: authentic daily life on a Greek island. Melida and its surroundings sit within easy reach of the Gulf of Kalloni, one of Europe's finest birdwatching destinations, and the ancient roads connecting the island's hill villages. Psaros Melinta makes a natural stopping point on any journey through this quieter, deeply rewarding part of Lesvos.
Before you go
What to expect
Psaros Melinta draws you into the unhurried rhythm of an olive-growing village — the kind of place where coffee arrives without rush and local olive oil and fresh cheeses from nearby plots make their way to the table. The hospitality is unaffected and genuine, the kind you find at a family-run spot that serves neighbours and passing travellers with equal warmth. Linger long enough and a midday stop tends to stretch pleasantly into the afternoon.
Best time to visit
Late spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable temperatures; July and August are warm in the Lesvos interior, though the shade and slow pace make it manageable.
How to get there
From Mytilene, drive west toward Kalloni then turn south toward Melida; the journey takes roughly 40 to 50 minutes. The village is small, so asking a local once you arrive is the easiest way to find it.

Best place in island. Restaurant is there for decades providing best food and services, adding the amazing views. The cafe provides you a sun-bed for free as long you get a coffee or anything from the shop min spend $2.50 which is amazing as in all island sun-beds cost minimum $20 . If you wish to stay on the beach restaurant rents rooms , the cleanest, newest and affordable. Make yourself a favour and visit Melinda . I do every year all way from Australia ♥️

A word of warning to all who have visited this spot in previous years like us and have enjoyed the use of free sunbeds and then visited the restaurant above for lunch. Unfortunately you can no longer do this as the cafe below the restaurant now appears to be sublet and you are expected to pay 2.5 euros per person, (most likely hiked to 5 euros for the 2025 season). Yet another formerly idyllic spot ruined!

It was a beautiful trip for us. Chicken Souvlaki and Tzatziki is a perfect couple, it was so delicious, highly recommended! Meatballs with Tomato Sauce is very fullfilling, worth the price. Rooms are clean. Quiet place to rest and enjoy the seashore of Melinta.
