I almost want to gatekeep this place but I also want to do it justice. Second time staying here and was again very pleased with my experience. Great location, very friendly host and comfortable room. Great value, too.

Sultana is a fantastic manager, both for her energy and her friendly demeanor... Our room had a sea view, was spacious and airy. There's a small kitchenette in the corner where you can prepare meals.

About

Tucked near the charming coastal town of Plomari on the southern shore of Lesvos, Studios Nick offers comfortable self-catering accommodation in one of the island's most characterful destinations. Plomari is best known as the spiritual home of Lesvos ouzo, where the celebrated Varvayiannis distillery has been producing the anise-flavoured spirit for generations, and staying close to town means guests can easily explore its traditional harbour, waterfront tavernas, and the narrow lanes of its old quarter that climb the hillside in tiers of terracotta and whitewashed stone.

Studios Nick provides the kind of independent, home-from-home base that suits travellers who want the freedom to explore at their own pace. The studio format — typically including a kitchenette, private facilities, and a relaxed setting — makes it a practical and affordable choice for couples or small families looking to linger in the region rather than rush through. From here, visitors are well placed to reach the pebbled coves and crystalline waters of the nearby coastline, including popular beaches such as Agios Isidoros and Melinda, each offering a distinct slice of the Aegean at its most unhurried.

What makes a stay at Studios Nick worthwhile is the access it provides to Plomari's authentic, lived-in atmosphere — this is not a resort town but a real community with a proud history, excellent local food, and the unhurried rhythm that defines the best of Greek island life. Whether you're sipping ouzo at a harbourside café, hiking the wooded hills above town, or simply watching the fishing boats come in at dusk, Studios Nick serves as a welcoming and practical anchor for discovering this quietly rewarding corner of Lesvos.

Before you go

What to expect

Studios Nick puts you in the middle of Plomari's working-town rhythms — ouzo distilleries, a proper fishing harbour, and tiered lanes of whitewashed houses rather than resort amenity. The studio setup means you can buy fresh fish at the harbour and cook it yourself, or walk to a waterfront taverna for the evening. Nearby pebbled coves like Agios Isidoros and Melinda are a short drive away for a quiet swim.

Best time to visit

Late May through September for swimming and warm evenings; July and August are peak season with more visitors in Plomari.

How to get there

Plomari is roughly 45–50 minutes by car from Mytilene, heading south along the coast road through Agiasos country. There is no direct fast road, so the drive winds pleasantly through olive groves and hillside villages.

Do not, under any circumstances, stay in room 13 on the garden floor. You can feel every single spring in the bed. You don’t need to learn how to sleep on a bad mattress. Shortly after checking into the room, I reported the issue to the manager, Ms. Soultana. She flatly refused to come down and check the bed with me. She was saying, previous guests had stayed there and didn’t complain. When I mentioned that I had seen a similar complaint online, she claimed “it was about a different room.” The conversation dragged on, tensions rose, and she seemed to want to escalate things, but I managed to stay calm. I offered to pay for the first night of my two-night reservation and leave in the morning, but she refused. Ms. Soultana said she doesn’t allow stays shorter than two nights. She was offering “either pay for two nights and stay or leave right now without staying”. I checked into the room around 8-9 PM, and at that hour, there were only three available places on the whole island, as the closest being an hour away. I was with motorbike, as she also knew and I couldn’t arrive there by motorcycle, wasn’t feasible and secure. It was also unlikely she could find someone else to take the room for that night, but oh well. In short, she wasn’t interested in finding a middle ground. Absolutely do not stay on the garden floor. Or better yet, don’t stay here at all. Very few of the property’s photos are of the garden floor. For those still considering staying: Other than that, it’s a standard guesthouse. The AC works well. There are kitchen appliances, but the counter space is limited. The fridge is available and works fine. There’s a wardrobe, but not many hangers—mostly makeshift wire ones. There’s only one power outlet by the bed. It’s not by the sea, and there’s no direct beach access.

A small family-friendly accommodation located at the entrance to Plomari, 100 meters from the public beach and approximately 500 meters from the city center. Excellent value for money. The owner, Sultana, is a very helpful and wonderful person. It can meet the needs of those who don't have high expectations and aren't looking for luxury.

We had a wonderful stay at Plomari! Sultana, the owner, is such a lovely person — warm, friendly, and always ready to help. She shared great tips about what to see and do around Lesvos. Our room was spotless, with a beautiful sea view. The balcony was one of our favorite spots — perfect for a breakfast and also simple, cozy dinner or at least a drink break after a day of exploring the nearby restaurants. The location is excellent: close to the beach and the town center, all within walking distance. And Plomari’s sea… probably the best we’ve experienced in Lesvos! We already know where we'll be staying next time we visit the island. Thank you, Sultana! With love 🥰 Bahar&Çetin (R:3)

Mr. John and Mrs. Sultana are very attentive. The sea view from the rooms is beautiful. Sitting on the balcony at night under the stars was delightful. The sound of the waves reaches the room. The room is small but adequate. There is no parking on the street. You may need to park a few streets away. Usually, parking is available within a 2-minute walk. The rooms are clean.

Ms. Sultana is a very helpful person. However, even though we were a couple, they gave us two single beds. Also, if you have back and waist pain, the beds are very uncomfortable. You might wake up with back and waist pain in the morning. Of course, that's if you can sleep comfortably. The location is excellent. All the places are within walking distance. There is also a blue flag beach very close by. The sunbeds and umbrellas there are free. You just need to buy something from the place there.
