About
Tucked in the charming village of Petra, this local supermarket serves as a convenient and welcoming stop for visitors exploring the northern coast of Lesvos. Whether you are stocking up for a self-catering stay, preparing a picnic to enjoy on the nearby beach, or simply grabbing essentials after a day of sightseeing, the supermarket provides a solid selection of everyday provisions, fresh produce, and local pantry staples. Petra itself sits in the shadow of a dramatic volcanic rock crowned by the Church of the Sweet-Kissing Virgin, and the village draws a steady stream of visitors who appreciate its relaxed, authentic atmosphere away from the busier resort towns.
Shopping here offers a glimpse into everyday island life, where you might find locally produced olive oil, Lesvos cheeses, Greek wines, and seasonal fruits alongside the familiar range of groceries and household goods. The staff are accustomed to helping international visitors and the supermarket is well-positioned relative to the village center and the beachfront, making it easy to combine a shopping errand with a stroll along the waterfront promenade. For travelers spending time in Petra or venturing further into the villages and landscapes of northwestern Lesvos, a stop here is a practical and genuinely pleasant part of the local experience.
Before you go
What to expect
A well-stocked neighborhood supermarket where you can pick up Lesvos olive oil, local cheeses, Greek wines, and fresh produce alongside everyday groceries. It draws a mix of villagers and visiting travelers, so the pace is unhurried and the staff are used to helping people who don't speak Greek. Combining a shop here with a walk along Petra's beachfront promenade takes no extra effort.
Best time to visit
Open through the main tourist season; visit in the cooler morning hours during July and August when the northern coast heats up.
How to get there
Petra is roughly an hour's drive from Mytilene along the main northern coast road, passing through Kalloni. The supermarket sits close to the village center, within easy walking distance of the seafront.

A little supermarket in the middle of the village. They have everything that's why its a bit full but you get used to it, at least I do. The girls are very helpful and speak great English. The owner, also friendly speak no English but if you ask him something, he calls one of the girls to help out. I realy love that shop which has two enterences, one in the villagestreet and one at the back on the beachroad which I prefer to put my scooter and the great view at the sea right in front of you.
