Once you catch your breath after the long hill up to the hotel, and the steps up to the rooms, you find a nice, clean hotel, with super friendly staff! There are no elevators, so if you have trouble walking, this is not the hotel for you. Otherwise, enjoy! We sure did!

About

Tucked along the southern coastline of Lesvos near the quiet village of Agios Isidorus, Sandy Bay is a welcoming beach destination that combines the natural beauty of the Aegean with the comforts of an organized seaside spot. The bay lives up to its name, offering a stretch of soft sand that slopes gently into calm, clear waters — an ideal setting for families and swimmers of all abilities. The sheltered position of the cove helps keep the sea conditions gentle, making it a reliable choice even when stronger meltemi winds stir up more exposed beaches elsewhere on the island.

As a beach business, Sandy Bay provides visitors with the kind of easy, relaxed experience that defines a good day by the Greek sea. Sun loungers and umbrellas offer shade during the height of summer, and the presence of facilities means you can arrive and stay as long as the afternoon lasts without needing to plan ahead. The surrounding scenery, with the olive-covered hillsides of the southern Lesvos landscape rolling down toward the water, gives the place an unhurried, away-from-it-all feeling despite being accessible by road.

The stretch of coast around Agios Isidorus is one of the less frenetic parts of Lesvos, attracting visitors who want to escape the busier tourist corridors without sacrificing comfort. Sandy Bay fits naturally into this character — a spot where the pace is slow, the water is inviting, and the simple pleasures of sun, sea, and good company are more than enough reason to linger.

Before you go

What to expect

Sandy Bay is the kind of beach where a half-day quietly stretches into a full one — sun loungers on soft sand, calm shallow water, and olive-covered slopes framing the view behind you. It draws families and couples looking for an unhurried day with the convenience of some facilities already in place. The sheltered cove keeps the sea noticeably calmer than more exposed beaches on the island, which matters on windy summer afternoons.

Best time to visit

June through September for swimming; the protected position makes it a more dependable choice than open-coast beaches during the meltemi-heavy weeks of July and August.

How to get there

From Mytilene, follow the southern coastal road toward Agios Isidoros — the drive is roughly 30 to 35 minutes on well-paved road, and the beach is easy to reach once you arrive at the village.

We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms are clean, the view is beautiful, and the breakfast is delicious and more than enough. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, which made us feel at home. The location is perfect, with parking available and a clean, relaxing pool. And of course, Mela—the sweetest little baby—was the highlight of our stay. Highly recommended!

A very bad hotel—I have no idea how it’s rated three stars. 1. Parking is extremely limited, and by morning you might find your car has been bumped. 2. The pool is more decorative than functional and definitely not hygienic. 3. The staff are rude and seem clueless about how the place should run. 4. I’m not picky, but the breakfast is downright inedible. 5.Beds and pillows are uncomfortable. 6.The walkway to the rooms reeks of urine. 7. The only plus—if you can call it that—is the balcony, where you can at least hang your laundry to dry.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotels Sandy Bay in Lesvos! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome with their warm and friendly demeanor. The hospitality here is truly top-notch. A special shoutout to Maria and Chris for their amazing cocktails! Their creations were beyond good, adding a delightful touch to my evenings. Whether it was a classic drink or one of their unique concoctions, each cocktail was crafted to perfection. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and offered stunning views of the surrounding area. The hotel’s location is perfect for exploring the beautiful island of Lesvos. I also appreciated the detailed recommendations from the staff on local attractions and dining spots. Overall, my experience at Hotels Sandy Bay was exceptional. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Lesvos. I can’t wait to return!

If heaven is on earth then Sandy Bay is the place. Before booking, I looked at the pictures and thought it looked ok… but the pictures do not give this place the credit it deserves. It’s a 100 times better!!!! I have travelled so many places in my life - but this tops my list. The sweetest, most accommodating family that runs it, clean and beautiful rooms and a view to die for!!!! I am definitely coming back - absolutely love the place… It didn’t bother me or my family, but the hill from the main road and up to the hotel is not for everyone. It’s steep and tough - but the view is amazing!!!

This hotel has an amazing view. The staff is so kind and warm hearted. The breakfast can be improved a bit. The rooms and balcony are great except the bathroom size. We enjoyed our stay so much. The location is superb is only 3 minutes away from the famous beach Agios Isidoros. The prices are moderate so we highly recommend this hotel .

The host and staff members were warm-hearted and friendly. We loved them. They were so Generous at breakfast. It has a gorgeous sea view from the hill during sunset. The room was a bit old and needed to be maintained. Still, It has an excellent value for its price.

Great place to stay in Plomari area. The room was quite okay with a nice sea view. The breakfast was very good as well as the snacks served during lunch time but a bit pricy. Never used the pool but should be okay during windy days. 3-4 min. walking distance to nice beaches but the road is a little steep which was not a big deal. Parking is a bit tricky where the road is steep and narrow, we did not struggle so much owing to our lifetime experience in Istanbul :) Overall, I definitely recommend the place.

Nice comfortable rooms with hot water tv and fridge. Linen and towels changed every other day. Breakfast is great, a full meal that makes you skip lunch. Pool is a bonus, always clean and chlorine levels are good. Location about 100 meters off the main road into Plomari which runs along the seaside, there are also little shops in the neighborhood to purchase groceries. All in all the hotel is a good choice. Will certainly be back.
