A true family-run business, away from the city but close to the beach. The breakfast is homemade and excellent. The rooms are clean and the view is amazing. The couple who run the place are very friendly. For those looking for a quiet place, it offers great value for money.

Nice family owned hotel. Feels like a Greek summer home. Liked the breakfasts. Great view! You would need a car to get to the beach, though I assume you already have one if you got that far to Charamida.

About

Tucked along the quieter western reaches of Lesvos, the Blue Bay Hotel sits near the small coastal settlement of Charamida, where the Aegean stretches out in shifting shades of turquoise and deep blue. This stretch of the island is far removed from the bustle of Mytilene, offering the kind of unhurried atmosphere that draws visitors seeking genuine rest amid natural surroundings. The hotel takes its name from the bay it overlooks, and the setting itself is one of the most compelling reasons to choose it as a base for exploring this part of Lesvos.

Guests at the Blue Bay Hotel can expect comfortable accommodations paired with direct access to the sea and the simple pleasures that define a Greek island stay — morning swims, long lunches, and evenings watching the light fade over the water. The surrounding area offers easy access to the olive groves and traditional villages that characterize the island's interior, as well as the wilder coastline and pebbly coves that line this part of Lesvos. For travelers looking to explore the Gulf of Kalloni, the renowned birdwatching wetlands, or the medieval villages of the island's western reaches, the hotel makes a practical and scenic base.

What sets a stay here apart is the sense of being genuinely away from it all, in a corner of Lesvos that has retained its authentic character. The pace is slow, the scenery is striking, and the proximity to the sea means that the water is never far from reach. Whether you arrive for the beaches, the landscape, or simply the restorative qualities of a quiet Aegean bay, the Blue Bay Hotel offers a welcoming foothold in one of the island's more peaceful and scenic corners.

Before you go

What to expect

The hotel looks directly onto its namesake bay, where the water shifts from pale turquoise in the shallows to deep blue offshore. Days here tend to organise themselves: a morning swim, a long lunch in the shade, evenings watching the light fade over the Aegean. The surrounding area is quiet enough that birdsong and the sound of the sea are the main background noise.

Best time to visit

Late May through September for swimming; June and September offer the best balance of warm weather and relative calm before and after the peak-summer crowds.

How to get there

Charamida is about 10 km south of Mytilene along the east coast, a drive of roughly 15–20 minutes. The coastal road is easy to follow and the journey is short enough to make day trips into town straightforward.

It is a very good hotel if you like to spend your time around the island and beaches in day time. Tavern of the hotel is very peaceful. Owner lady of the hotel cooks very delicious meals. You should definitely try her meals. There is a perfect beach so close to the hotel. You can go by car or walk there easily.

First of all, if you're looking for a quality place, you'll be disappointed; it's quite a shabby, guesthouse-like place. The toilet and bathroom cleanliness is terrible, there's a very bad smell coming from the toilet, the breakfast service is very poor, you eat whatever they put in front of you, you sit wherever they tell you to sit, you leave neither hungry nor full. There are no staff, just an elderly couple, so the service quality is very slow!! Also, the location is 13 km from the city center, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet in nature and not too much comfort!

The view from the room was the ceiling of the dining room with cement and stone scorpions. On the breakfast terrace you could see broken children's toys and old flowers and pots. In the rooms the lights were not turned on too early to welcome customers.

We were a group of five and were generally satisfied, however, the toilets in the rooms are very small, making it difficult to move around inside, and the shower cabins are so small that showering inside is difficult. Apart from that, the air conditioning and refrigerator worked well, and the cleaners took care of the room daily. Being close to the beach is an advantage, but there are only two beaches nearby. You have to travel quite a distance to get to other beaches. Breakfast is served daily between 6:45 and 10:00, and many things are homemade, but they always serve the same things; there's no variety, and some items are served in very small quantities. For example, there were only two olives per person. The internet is another problem: the internet that works in the restaurant doesn't work in rooms 5 meters away.

It only deserves 2 stars because of its beautiful view and proximity to the beach. Unfortunately, the hotel owners don't care about customer satisfaction at all. They even wait for everyone to arrive at the table before having breakfast. 😐

Clean rooms, a lovely breakfast, and a quiet, peaceful, and serene environment. The owners, Theano and George, provided us with a very pleasant atmosphere. There's a wonderful beach within 1 km. You'll be comfortable if you go by car. The only downside is that the furnishings in the rooms are a bit old, but it's not a problem at all.
