A lovely little shop with a beautiful selection of clothes. My girlfriend especially loved the custom-made jewelry. We will definitely be back if we visit the area again!
About
Tucked near the storied ouzo town of Plomari on Lesvos's southern coast, Chromatika takes its name from the Greek word for color, and that spirit of vivid expression runs through everything the space offers. Whether through local crafts, visual art, or curated products that reflect the island's rich cultural palette, Chromatika serves as a creative touchstone in a region better known for its distilleries and fishing harbors — a reminder that Lesvos has always been a place where artistry thrives alongside tradition.
Visitors who wander in from Plomari's sun-bleached waterfront will find a character quite distinct from the typical souvenir shop. The offerings here feel rooted in a genuine appreciation for Aegean aesthetics, drawing on the textures, hues, and handcraft sensibilities that define life on the island. It is the kind of place where a carefully chosen piece — a print, a ceramic, a textile — can carry the memory of Lesvos home far more eloquently than anything mass-produced.
Plomari itself rewards unhurried exploration, with its neoclassical architecture, working ouzo distilleries, and a lingering old-world atmosphere, and Chromatika fits naturally into that rhythm. For travelers seeking something beyond the beach, a stop here offers a moment of genuine local discovery — a chance to connect with the creative life of the island and perhaps take away something that speaks to the particular beauty of this corner of Greece.
Before you go
What to expect
Chromatika draws you in with an eye for craft — the shelves hold prints, ceramics, and textiles that feel like genuine expressions of island life rather than holiday trinkets. Browsing takes its own quiet pace, with each piece inviting a closer look. It's the kind of stop that lingers in memory long after Plomari's famous ouzo has been poured.
Best time to visit
Late spring through early autumn is the main visiting season; July and August bring more visitors to Plomari, but the shop itself offers a welcome retreat from the afternoon heat.
How to get there
From Mytilene, head southwest along the southern coastal road toward Plomari — the drive takes roughly 40 to 50 minutes. Chromatika is in the town center, close to the waterfront.

A wonderful shop, with wonderful products, full of colors and very good prices. A fantastic little shop with very friendly staff and a collection of special clothes, jewelry, gifts and much more. The owners - employees are very kind and helpful, but above all people with empathy and ethics. Congratulations!

A wonderful little clothing store with incredible things, little treasures! Its prices are extremely affordable, whenever I visit Plomari, I will definitely stop by there, to discover something new and truly unique. The staff is extremely friendly and will make you feel as comfortable as if you were shopping from your own home. Also, the fact that I recently learned that he supports the suffering people of Palestine is a very important advantage for me, proving that his people, in addition to being simple business owners, are also good people. if you find yourself in Plomari it is definitely worth a visit from there, I highly recommend it!

When i entered this magnificent shop i told them word by word that if someone told me this shop was in hip Amsterdam i would believe them. Everything in there is very well thought of with a lot of small clothing brands and illustrations. Will be defenatelly coming back.

The objects in the store became unimportant once you read the subversive political writings and ads inside and outside the store. Should not be forced to undergo such blatant improper speech when shopping in a Greek village. Better shop in places that do not force their political beliefs onto unsuspecting visitors...
Owner Response
Dear visitor,
We understand that our store’s message may have challenged your expectations of what a shop in a Greek village “should” look or sound like. But the truth is, we are not here to confirm stereotypes of silence, submission, or market-friendly neutrality.
The message in our window is not propaganda. It is a call for humanity: “Pressure your governments to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. Humanity knows no borders. Freedom to all.”
If that statement feels subversive to you, perhaps the problem lies not in the message, but in the reality it reflects.
You mention “political writings inside and outside” the store, which is curious, as the only message expressing our stance is clearly and openly placed on our front window. Perhaps your review reflects not a personal shopping experience, but something else entirely.
We do not force beliefs on anyone. But we also refuse to pretend that genocide is an acceptable backdrop for leisurely shopping.
You are, of course, free to shop elsewhere. We are free to speak.

One of the best shops in Plomari. The clothes and the jewelry are unique and they really catch the eye. The owners are one of a kind!! Totally suggested!

High prices coupled with poor quality items. In addition, poor taste political activism that has no place in a clothing store, nor in a quaint Greek village. Will not step in on principle. Should be avoided..
Owner Response
Dear Yarom,
You express strong discomfort with our shop’s political stance. We have never pretended to be a “neutral” store: in a world witnessing genocide in real-time, neutrality is complicity.
Our support for the civilians of Gaza and all oppressed people is a matter of conscience and humanity. Asking for humanitarian aid to pass is not provocative. Saying “Stop genocide” is not an ideological slogan, it’s a basic call for justice and compassion.
We also find it important to note that, despite the strong words in your review, you have never actually visited our shop. Criticizing a space and its people without having stepped inside speaks more about distance than about understanding.
