About

Irini Studios offers a welcoming base for travellers seeking a peaceful retreat on the southern shores of Lesvos, nestled close to the quiet village of Agios Isidoros. This stretch of coast is one of the island's more tranquil corners, away from the busier resort strips, where the Aegean laps gently against pebbly shores framed by pine-covered hills. Self-catering studios like these are the backbone of independent travel on Lesvos, giving visitors the freedom to come and go at their own rhythm, pick up fresh produce from local markets, and settle into the unhurried pace that defines life on the island.

Guests staying at Irini Studios are well placed to explore the surrounding area, including the beach at Agios Isidoros itself, which draws a loyal following of visitors who prize its calm, clear water and relaxed atmosphere over the more commercial beaches elsewhere. The southern Lesvos coastline offers easy access to the Gulf of Kalloni, a sheltered lagoon renowned for its exceptional birdwatching — particularly during spring migration, when flamingos and wading birds gather in remarkable numbers. The medieval hilltop village of Vatousa and the artisan workshops of the broader Kalloni region are also within comfortable driving distance, making the studios a practical and pleasant hub for wider exploration.

For travellers who want an authentic experience of Lesvos without the noise of the main tourist centres, a stay at Irini Studios offers exactly that blend of simplicity and access. The name Irini — meaning peace in Greek — feels quietly apt for a place in this corner of the island, where the evenings are still, the local tavernas serve the catch of the day, and the landscape has a timeless quality that keeps visitors returning year after year.

Before you go

What to expect

You settle into your own rhythm here — coffee on the terrace, a short walk down to the pebbly cove, evenings at a taverna where the fish arrived that morning. The studio layout suits independent travellers who want to come and go freely, pick up provisions locally, and wind down in surroundings that feel genuinely unhurried rather than tourist-packaged.

Best time to visit

Late May through September for swimming; arrive in April or early May if you want to catch the flamingo gatherings at the nearby Gulf of Kalloni during spring migration.

How to get there

Agios Isidoros is roughly a 30–40 minute drive south from Mytilene, following the road toward the Gulf of Kalloni; the studios sit close to the village centre.

Awesome place just between Isidoros beach and Plomari city. We had a very nice room with view over the sea and mountains. The landlady Irini is the best! Kind and very helpful. She takes care of stray cats and dogs ❤️. We are animal lovers and were very happy that she showed us. If you go to Plomari this is the place to stay!

Owner Response

Thank you so much for all your kind words, it is always nice to have people here who love animals 😃

First of all, the landlady was extremely welcoming, kind and helpful. She explained not only the facility in detail but also informed us about Plomari and Lesvos. She presented us an English and Turkish Lesvos guide book and map, and an ouzo souvenir (you may find the museum of Ouzo company across the street). In addition, she is an animal lover who looks after 2 dogs and a lot of abandoned cats. Balcony and terrace is quite good and cozy. Place is close to restaurants and a famous beach. Not far from the city center. We definitely recommend this place.

If you're traveling by car, we'd recommend Irinis Studios in Plomari. We had the suite on the upper floor. It was large, clean and well appointed. The view of the sea from the balcony was great and having breakfast on the balcony was ideal. As mentioned by others, two thumbs up for the breakfast, a definite highlight of our stay. A big thank you to Irini. She is very sweet and accommodating.
