About
Isalos is a bar located in Petra, one of Lesvos's most picturesque coastal villages, known for its dramatic rock formation crowned by a church and its long sandy beach. Petra draws visitors from across the island and beyond, and Isalos fits naturally into the relaxed, convivial atmosphere that makes the village so appealing to travelers seeking an authentic Greek experience away from the busier resort towns.
As a bar in this setting, Isalos offers guests a place to unwind with drinks — whether a cold local beer, a glass of ouzo, or a refreshing cocktail — in a village where the pace of life slows to match the rhythm of the Aegean. The coordinates place it close to the seafront, making it a natural spot to settle in as the sun drops toward the water and the evening light turns the stone facades of Petra golden. Bars in villages like Petra tend to be gathering places for locals and visitors alike, where conversation flows as easily as the drinks.
For anyone spending time in the Petra area, Isalos offers a welcoming stop to rest, refresh, and absorb the character of this storied corner of Lesvos. Whether you are winding down after a swim at Petra beach or starting a leisurely evening before dinner, it represents the kind of unhurried, sociable experience that defines travel on the island at its best.
Before you go
What to expect
Isalos sits near the seafront in Petra, a village dominated by a striking rock with a church at its peak and a long sandy beach below. You settle in with an ouzo or a cold beer as the sun drops over the Aegean and the stone facades of the village turn golden — the kind of slow evening that Lesvos does particularly well. Locals and travelers mix easily here, and the conversation tends to outlast the drinks.
Best time to visit
Late spring through early autumn is ideal; July and August evenings are lively but busy, while May, June, and September offer the same warmth with noticeably fewer crowds.
How to get there
Petra is roughly 40 km north of Mytilene — count on about 50 minutes by car, heading north through Kalloni and continuing toward the northwest coast.

An incredibly atmospheric place. We happened to be sitting at tables on the rocks by the water. They're not stable, but they're very charming. I don't know about the food, as we only ordered two beers, which we got a small snack with for free. Beautiful location.
