ΠΙΤΣΑΡΙΑ "ΓΑΛΗΝΗ"
Visitors say
Right opposite, overlooking the sea, there's a place that's like a family tea garden, and it's packed morning and evening; it's number one.
We went recently after years of poor service. This time everything was perfect. very good pizza (we got the special) very good chef's salad, pretty good service and good prices. It was a nice evening, we had a great time.
About
Nestled near the quiet coastal village of Panagiouda on the eastern shores of Lesvos, Pizzeria Galini takes its name from the Greek word for serenity, and that spirit runs through everything about the place. Set along a stretch of coastline where the Aegean shimmers with that particular stillness the island is known for, this local pizzeria offers a welcoming respite for travellers exploring the area between Mytilini and the scenic villages of the southeastern peninsula.
Galini serves as the kind of neighbourhood spot that anchors a small community — a place where locals gather after a beach afternoon and visitors quickly feel at home. The menu centres on pizza, that universally beloved comfort food that finds an easy home in the Greek islands where wood-fired traditions and fresh local ingredients come together naturally. Whether you are stopping in after a morning exploring the olive groves and churches of the surrounding villages or looking for a relaxed evening meal away from the busier tavernas of Mytilini, Galini delivers honest, satisfying food in an unhurried atmosphere.
Panagiouda itself is a small, unpretentious village just a short drive south of the island capital, and Galini fits its character perfectly — unfussy, genuine, and rooted in the rhythms of everyday island life. For visitors who want to step off the tourist trail and eat where the locals eat, this little pizzeria is exactly the kind of find that makes slow travel on Lesvos so rewarding.
Before you go
What to expect
Tables with a view towards the Aegean, locals settling in after an afternoon at the beach, and straightforward pizza served without ceremony — Galini runs at the pace of the village, unhurried and genuinely welcoming. You order, sit back, and watch the light change over the water; the evening takes care of itself.
Best time to visit
May through October is the main season; summer evenings are especially pleasant when a sea breeze takes the edge off the midday heat.
How to get there
Panagiouda is a short drive south of Mytilene along the eastern coast road — most visitors reach it in about 10 to 15 minutes by car.

Delicious pizza "from the old days", almost unchanged since our childhood, in picturesque Panagiouda.

Margherita pizza, thin crust, crispy all around...delicious...only that they removed some fat from the cheese...which was pooling on top...

A very pleasant surprise since it is outside the center, the calzone is by far one of the best I have tried. The prices are relatively low in proportion to the quantity and taste, I highly recommend it.
