Super nice and helpful man. The anklets were just a tad too small, and he made them a bit bigger for us within half a day—what great service!
About
Tucked near the charming seaside village of Petra on Lesvos's north coast, Tree of Life offers visitors a welcoming pause along one of the island's most scenic stretches. Petra itself is famous for its dramatic monolithic rock crowned by the Church of the Sweet-Kissing Virgin, and the surrounding area draws travelers who appreciate unhurried discovery, local character, and the quieter rhythms of Aegean life. Tree of Life fits naturally into this spirit, serving as a gathering point where the warmth of genuine Greek hospitality meets the beauty of the northern coast.
Whether you stop in for refreshment, local products, or simply a moment of respite, there is something restorative about a place whose name evokes rootedness and abundance. The north of Lesvos is fertile and lush compared to other parts of the island, shaped by olive groves, fishing traditions, and a landscape that has sustained communities for millennia. A visit to Tree of Life connects travelers to this slower, more grounded way of experiencing the island rather than rushing between sights.
For those exploring Petra and the surrounding villages, Tree of Life makes a natural waypoint. It represents the kind of small, characterful business that gives a destination its soul, offering something beyond the transactional, a reason to linger, to chat, and to leave feeling more connected to the place you have come to discover.
Before you go
What to expect
Tree of Life sits inside Petra village, a short walk from the dramatic monolithic rock that crowns the town's skyline. It's the kind of stop where you linger over a coffee or explore local products while the unhurried pace of the northern coast settles around you. The lush olive-grove countryside visible outside gives the place a grounded, distinctly un-touristy feel.
Best time to visit
Late April through early October for pleasant weather; May and June offer a quieter visit before the summer crowds reach Petra.
How to get there
From Mytilene, take the main road north toward Kalloni and then continue to Petra — the drive is roughly 50 to 60 minutes. Petra is well-signed and Tree of Life is within the village itself.

Beautiful store with nice ceramics and jewelry - but! The store owner was disrespectful and quite rude, making the visit pretty uncomfortable. I found something in the store and asked if he could do a lower price, as anybody would do in Greece - I’ve visited the country 10+ times and it has never been a problem anywhere. The owner, instead of just saying no or the price is not negotiable, said “If you want a lower price, go to Thailand” with a sour face - I was quite surprised and thought I had heard him wrong, so he repeated and added that I needed to show respect. I simply said that it was alright, no thanks, and left the store with a smile. Wouldn’t recommend - I hope he sells enough to be able to go to Thailand one day, it’s quite nice there.

Thanks for your observations and the misleading story. Asking with your way to give discount at something with 7 euro doesn't leave much room for discussion, especially after long hours of work. In Greece, we value hospitality and respect — both given and received. Negotiation is always welcome when it's done politely, but disrespect towards our country or our work doesn't leave much room for conversation. And Thailand is a wonderful country and we will go again gladly.

It's a wonderful shop. A place where you can find carefully selected, valuable pieces. Among the products are handmade jewelry by the famous Greek designer Alexandra Tsoukala. I bought earrings from her collection; they immediately attract attention! The shop owner, Mr. Fotis, is also a cultured and pleasant person to talk to. I highly recommend visiting if you ever find yourself in Petra.

Lovely owner! I bought a beautiful skirt made out of recycled saris, and my sister bought pottery decorations for her kitchen. He sells work by locals, and it is all very beautiful.
