The Church of the Panagia — dedicated to the Virgin Mary, known in Greek as the Theotokos or God-bearer — is one of the most beloved and widespread church dedications across Lesvos and the broader Orthodox world. Churches bearing this name are invariably central to the spiritual life of their surrounding communities, serving as gathering points for prayer, celebration, and remembrance through the generations.
