About
Tucked away in the verdant hills near Stypsi, one of Lesvos's most authentically preserved inland villages, Oikotechnia A.O.- Gevseis Paradosis is a treasure for visitors seeking a genuine taste of the island's artisanal heritage. The name itself says it all: oikotechnia refers to traditional home crafts and cottage industry, while gevseis paradosis translates warmly as "tastes of tradition." Together they speak to a place devoted to keeping alive the time-honored skills and flavors that have defined Lesbian rural life for generations.
Here visitors can expect to find locally made products rooted in the agricultural and culinary traditions of the island's interior — the kinds of goods that rarely make it to supermarket shelves but have sustained families and communities for centuries. Think handcrafted preserves, artisanal cheeses, olive-based products, and other delicacies produced with the care and knowledge passed down through Lesvian households. The cooperative or association model behind the business reflects a broader commitment to supporting local producers and sustaining the economic fabric of villages like Stypsi.
For the curious traveler driving through the pine-scented landscape of northern Lesvos, a stop here offers something far beyond simple shopping. It is an invitation to slow down and connect with the island's living culture — to taste, to ask questions, and to leave with something genuinely made on Lesvos rather than a mass-produced souvenir. The proximity to Stypsi, a village worth exploring in its own right for its stone architecture and unhurried pace, makes this a natural and rewarding detour on any journey through the island's interior.
Before you go
What to expect
A small cooperative shop where you can browse, taste, and buy handmade preserves, artisanal cheeses, and olive-based goods produced by village families in the Stypsi area. The atmosphere is genuinely unhurried — staff can often tell you exactly who made a particular jar of marmalade or wedge of cheese and from which farm. Expect the smell of herbs and cured goods rather than a polished retail experience.
Best time to visit
Spring through early autumn is most rewarding; summer brings more passing visitors, but the shop keeps a quiet, village pace year-round.
How to get there
From Mytilene, head north toward Kalloni then continue inland toward Stypsi — the drive takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes along winding hill roads. Once in Stypsi the village is compact enough that the shop is easy to locate on foot.

One of the most authentic places we have eaten at, the view makes you feel like you're experiencing the true colours of Greece, the music combined with the good food and view will make you leave this place happier than before and you'll want to return. The place is run by the nicest old man that gives you happiness from the way he acts and the way he loves working here.

Away from the touristic port and touristic restaurants of the main road, we found this great place. The food was very tasty and clearly felt like home food. The service fast, pleasant and with a friendly personnel. Some tables close to the big windows have great views. Recommended!

Great little family run restaurant serving traditional home cooked food. A few minutes walk away from the busier tourist streets, with a great view over the bay. There were lots of locals eating here which we hadn't seen in other restaurants in Molyvos. We had the four "small" mezze plates as a starter which would probably be enough for dinner if you weren't too hungry! We also had the grilled lamb chops and stuffed tomatoes/peppers which were very tasty. Would recommend this place if you want a relaxed atmosphere with home style cooking. The owners are very friendly and will happily have a chat about Molyvos, Lesbos and more!

The area used to be the main hub of Molivos the old agora, a few closed shops but this old traditional kafenio is the epitomy of how it used to be, fantastic view with the cheapest greek coffee in Molivos 1eu! there is no food served in the winter months, but will definitely be back to try the food and meze in the summer!

Very traditional taverna, old man and his wife. Nothing fancy, guests are mostly tourists, some locals. Food is limited selection of typical taverna menu, but cooked fresh and tasty. Grilled Anchovies and fries and salad and imam especially.

This is not a tacky place geared toward tourists, even the name is only in greek. With no doubt, this is a unique place. This is a typical Greek family tavern where the waiter is the owner and the cook is probably the owners wife. The dishes cost from 5 to 12 euros, at first glance they do not knock the appearance, but they taste insanely. Everything tastes like nowhere else. I recommend this tavern like no other. Food can be ordered from 18:30, earlier you can only have a drink. The tavern has a super view.
