Don't expect 5 star but clean and a great location for the port. Staff very friendly...we hadn't booked for breakfast but morning brews and a slice of cake were no trouble. Very close to the beach...2.5veuros entry - sunbeds and umbrellas included. Would stay again.

About

Nestled in the heart of Mytilini, the island's vibrant capital, Orfeas Hotel offers visitors a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore everything Lesvos has to offer. Mytilini is a city of layers — Ottoman-era architecture, Byzantine churches, and a lively waterfront promenade all exist side by side — and a stay here puts guests within easy reach of the city's museums, tavernas, and the bustling harbour where fishing boats and ferries share the same stretch of water.

The hotel provides a welcoming retreat after days spent discovering the island, whether that means hiking through the petrified forest to the west, seeking out the thermal springs near Polichnitos, or simply wandering the narrow lanes of the old town. The surrounding area of Mytilini rewards those who linger: the stunning castle that overlooks the city, the excellent Theophilos Museum dedicated to the beloved naïve painter born here, and the fresh seafood restaurants along the quay are all close at hand.

For travellers arriving by ferry from Athens or the Turkish coast, Orfeas Hotel serves as an ideal first port of call, placing the whole of Lesvos within reach. With a character shaped by its urban setting in a city that has long been a crossroads of Aegean culture, it offers the kind of straightforward hospitality that lets the island itself take centre stage.

Before you go

What to expect

Staying at Orfeas puts you at the centre of Mytilini's daily rhythms — the castle-crowned skyline visible from the surrounding streets, the harbour a short walk away where fishing boats and ferries share the same quay. The Theophilos Museum, the Ottoman-era lanes of the old town, and fresh seafood along the waterfront are all reachable on foot before lunch.

Best time to visit

April through October suits a city stay well; July and August bring full summer heat and peak ferry traffic, while May, June, and September offer a more relaxed pace.

How to get there

The hotel sits in central Mytilini, less than a kilometre from the main ferry terminal — guests arriving from Athens or the Turkish coast can walk or take a very short taxi ride.

Pretty good location and nice staff, old building with high ceiling, very close to all amenities around center, there is a big long beach near by hotel and this beach has really good services like shower/wc/changin rooms etc. entrance is 2€ per person.

Great little hotel in a convenient location. Hotel provides a wonderful breakfast for extra charge. Lovely to enjoy the breakfast on the terrace. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to Old Town, Port, Mytilene Castle and Plaz Beach. Be sure to check out Plaz Beach and consider a day trip to Ayvalik, Turkey via ferry.

Good price, perfect location, clean rooms; all I could ask for! Not a luxurious stay but a modest one, but when this is apparent I just wonder why some people complain about minor details and ask for more. The rooms are clean (especially sheets, towels, and the bathroom), the front-side views are cute, the rooms have high ceilings, there is air conditioning, a small fridge, Wi-Fi with good speed, and the best prices. It is also not only located right in the center of Mitilini, but also 'right next to' the port and a blissful swimming spot Tsamakia Beach. I appreciate everything about Orfeas Hotel and want to thank the staff for maintaining this cute and comfortable accommodation!

This is a family hotel in an old renovated building, where the attention goes to a personalized experience rather than a huge luxury but anonymous hotel. The location is amazing, next to the beach and next to the city center, literally 5 minutes to both. The rooms smell of freshness and soap everyday when returning back, good beds, very nice service, value for money is unbelievable. We will be returning, without a doubt.

The hotel is very nice. The location is great, even if the rooms facing the street are noisy. Close the windows and turn on the air conditioning, then it's fine. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Walking distance to the beach and harbor. What more do you want

The room was small but not to the point that's suffocating. The linens were some of the cleanest I've encountered and the room as well. The aircon was in perfect working condition and and cooled the room perfectly. The slight problem was with the bathroom that is on the tiny side, and the shower that a person of a bigger caliber may find it uncomfortable, but I understand since the building is of another era, it is not the easiest to include a bathroom in each and every room. The conclusion is I was satisfied and I got what I paid for.
