Very thorough explanation of the establishment and the tasting was superb. You can buy souvenirs and explore the surrounding area.
Really worth the time to go to the factory. Entrance fee is 2 euros and we got to try some ouzo. More important we went around the factory and learned how ouzo is made. The people facilitating the tour were super nice..
About
Comprehensive museum in Plagia dedicated to the history and production of ouzo, Greece's iconic anise-flavored spirit. Interactive exhibits guide visitors through traditional distillery processes with tastings included; fully wheelchair accessible. Essential attraction for understanding Plagia's ouzo heritage.
Before you go
What to expect
You move through the production story in sequence — aromatic herbs and raw grain giving way to gleaming copper stills — and the smell of anise follows you from room to room. The interactive format means you're not just reading panels; you're turning dials and watching the distillation process unfold. The tasting at the end anchors it all in a single small glass.
Best time to visit
Open spring through early autumn; a weekday morning visit avoids the tour-group rush that peaks in July and August.
How to get there
From Mytilene, drive south toward Plomari — Plagia is a short distance beyond it, roughly 25–30 minutes by car depending on your route.

The visit to the Ouzo Museum was both interesting and enjoyable. It was fascinating to see how one of the world’s most famous ouzos is produced. Our guide was very friendly, and her explanations were engaging and informative. The tour is highly recommended, and at the end you can visit the shop where I found the best prices and unique items available only there.

Along a winding country road from Agios Isidoros it's a 20 minute walk to the Ouzo museum of Plomari Isidoros Arvanitis. It's the largest producer of ouzo on the island of Lesbos and 17 distilleries on the island produce 50% of all ouzo in Greece. Make a visit, it's time well spent and you'll both get the history of ouzo and taste it and buy some, if you wish. The barriers are down but a guard will welcome you if you keep track of the opening hours. Jamas!!

We went at 10am, naturally it was very quiet. A pair of smiling eyes greet you and accompany you throughout the tour. You can watch the entire process from distillation to bottling. The tour ends with an ouzo tasting, if you wish you can buy ouzo and souvenirs from the shop.

This is a well designed museum and ouzo shop. You should visit there. We loved the ouzo documentary, it is so creative! The prices are lower than downtown shops. You can find small details of how to prepare ouzo and its special ingredients.Long live Isidoros Arvanitis!

Very interesting. Lots of background knowledge on Plomari Ouzo. Tour is about 1 hour, 2 euro, good spoken English, very friendly tour guide, tours start on the hour. Eat before you go, Ouzo is strong alcohol.
