About
Nestled near the thermal village of Loutrópoli Thermís on the northeastern coast of Lesvos, Papadellis Olive Oil is a testament to one of the island's most celebrated traditions. Lesvos is home to an estimated eleven million olive trees, many of them centuries old, and the island's extra virgin olive oil has long been regarded among the finest in Greece. The fertile land around Thermís, warmed by a mild microclimate and nourished by volcanic soil, produces olives of exceptional quality, and producers like Papadellis carry forward the generations-deep knowledge of turning that harvest into liquid gold.
A visit to Papadellis offers more than simply purchasing a bottle to take home. It is an opportunity to connect with the agricultural soul of Lesvos, to understand how traditional cultivation and pressing methods shape the character of the oil — its low acidity, its grassy and peppery notes, its golden-green hue. Whether you are sampling oils, learning about the harvest cycle that defines the rhythm of island life each autumn, or simply stocking up on one of the most authentic souvenirs the island can offer, the experience grounds you in the landscape around you.
For food-conscious travelers, stopping here is a natural complement to exploring the broader northeastern corner of Lesvos, where Byzantine churches, thermal springs, and working farms exist side by side. A bottle of Papadellis olive oil carries with it the taste of the Aegean hillsides, and for many visitors it becomes one of those rare purchases that genuinely evokes a place long after the journey home.
Before you go
What to expect
You walk in expecting a shop and leave having understood something real about the island. The oils are available to taste — grassy, peppery, a luminous golden-green — pressed from trees tended on these Aegean hillsides for generations. It is a quiet, unhurried stop where the quality speaks without any performance around it.
Best time to visit
Open through the main travel season; visit in autumn to catch the energy of harvest time, when the pressing cycle begins across the northeastern villages.
How to get there
Papadellis is in the village of Loutrópoli Thermís, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car from Mytilene heading northeast along the coast road toward the thermal springs.
