STUDIO NUFARO
Visitors say
5/5 because the room was clean and as shown in the pictures. The owner is very polite and attentive to make sure we had a good stay. Very close but still secluded from the city center which I think is preferable 😊
A wonderful place to spend your holidays! Very kind and helpful staff. Highly recommended for whoever is visiting Lesvos island.
About
Nestled near the charming coastal village of Vareia, just a short drive south of Mytilene, Studio Nufaro offers a tranquil base from which to explore both the cultural riches of Lesvos's capital and the quieter pleasures of the island's southern shore. Vareia itself carries a distinguished legacy as the birthplace of Nobel Prize-winning poet Odysseas Elytis, and the surrounding landscape of olive groves, sea views, and unhurried village life lends the area an atmosphere of authentic Aegean calm. Staying at Studio Nufaro places guests in close proximity to this literary heritage while keeping the amenities and waterfront of Mytilene within easy reach.
As a studio accommodation, Nufaro is well suited to independent travelers and couples seeking a comfortable, self-contained retreat rather than a large hotel experience. The studio format typically offers the freedom to set your own pace, with the convenience of your own space after days spent exploring Lesvos's volcanic landscapes, Byzantine monasteries, and pebble beaches. The southern part of the island around Mytilene is one of the more accessible and historically layered regions of Lesvos, making a base here practical for visitors who want to balance sightseeing with relaxation. Whether you are arriving by ferry from Athens or continuing a journey around the island, Studio Nufaro represents a thoughtful choice for those who appreciate intimate, locally rooted accommodation over chain hospitality.
Before you go
What to expect
The studio format here invites a slow, self-directed rhythm — mornings with your own coffee before heading out to the Mytilene waterfront, evenings back in the quiet of Vareia as the village settles. The area carries an understated literary resonance: Vareia was the birthplace of Odysseas Elytis, and there is a certain contemplative calm to the olive groves and sea light that seems fitting for a Nobel laureate's home ground.
Best time to visit
Late April through October suits most visitors; May, June, and September offer a gentler pace than the hotter, busier July and August.
How to get there
Vareia sits just south of Mytilene — typically less than ten minutes by car from the port, so ferry arrivals from Athens can be at the door with minimal fuss.

I was not satisfied from Villa nufaro, the room was too small and the bed too small for a double one with a very hard matress. However it was quiet and clean with a nice balcony. Also the place is located in an area where someone needs to use a car to be transferred in the centre. Eleni

Well looked after for one week long stay. Family run and friendly. We did get into a disagreement over the arrangements for checkout which left me with a slight air of discontent and would encourage me to try somewhere else next time.

This marker is misplaced and should be 350m nearer the centre. Nice place, very quiet.
