Visitors say
Amazing seaside Tavern with generous portions and local ouzo, 18 year old Giannis is a great waiter and super nice. Food is out of this world, fish is from the sea and you know it from the taste and the smell.
A great tavern by the sea in Pyrgi. We totally loved the food, the waiters were as helpful as they could be and the service delivered what we want. The ratio between the price we paid and the service we got was pretty good.
About
Tavern Pyrgi sits in the village of Pirgi, a quiet inland settlement in the heart of Lesvos, where the pace of life slows and the flavours on the plate tell the story of the island's culinary tradition. Named after its home village, this taverna offers the kind of honest, home-style Greek cooking that has sustained generations of islanders — grilled meats, fresh salads dressed with local olive oil, hearty bean dishes, and the seasonal vegetables that Lesvos's fertile interior is known for.
Dining at Tavern Pyrgi is as much about atmosphere as it is about food. Village tavernas like this one typically gather locals and travellers alike around shared tables, with the warmth of a family-run kitchen evident in every dish. The surrounding landscape of olive groves and rolling hills makes it a natural stop for visitors exploring the island's interior, away from the busier coastal resorts. A carafe of house wine, a spread of mezedes, and unhurried conversation are the hallmarks of the experience here.
For visitors keen to move beyond the beach and taste the quieter, more traditional side of Lesvos, Tavern Pyrgi offers a genuine window into village life. It is the kind of place where a simple lunch can stretch comfortably into the afternoon — exactly as it should on a Greek island.
Before you go
What to expect
A shaded table at a village taverna where the kitchen sends out what's in season — grilled lamb, slow-cooked beans, salads dressed with oil pressed from the groves you can see from your seat. The crowd is a mix of Pirgi locals and visitors who have made the short detour inland, and the pace is deliberately unhurried. Expect to linger.
Best time to visit
Spring and autumn are ideal when the heat is gentle; the village stays quiet even in July and August compared to the coastal resorts.
How to get there
Pirgi is just a few kilometres from Mytilene — a short drive inland from the city, well within reach for a lunch stop before or after exploring the east of the island.

Traditional Greek tavern. Tables are located right next to the bay. I recommend visiting right before sunset to see the beutiful view. Excellent and friendly service. Delicious food. A group of cats live nearby. They are friendly and well behaved. Good to make a reservation, because the place gets crouded in the evenings.

Wonderful authentic taverna with sweet servers who take pride in friendliness and their dinner service. There was almost nobody when we ate around 3-4pm but the place filled with beautiful people once the sun was setting. Highly recommend this charming place, plus, the food was incredible. Get the sardines of course, a Greek salad, calamari it’s all very tasty.

Nice atmoshere by the sea in this tiny fishing boats harbor. Service also good but this is as far as good things go. The "ampelofasola" came as mix of overboiled and more recently boiled green beans which we left uneaten. The "lakerda" we were told was not prepared in house but the they were strongly recomending it. Also left uneaten. The "koukia" were not also eaten as we felt they were cooked days ago and were not preserved properly. Worse than all nobody asked us why all these plates were left uneaten

We’ve stayed in the Pyrgi area for two weeks and ate at this restaurant several times. They serve fantastic food and the ingredients are always fresh. The staff is polite and attentive as well. If you come to Lesvos and want to have a quality meal with a gorgeous view don’t miss this place.

This little restaurant was a really fantastic discovery. It's situated right by a small port with an amazing view. Food is really good, service is fast, staff is friendly and professional, price is low to average.

A beatifull isolated small port just 5 minutes away from Mytilene. One of the best seafood.Prefered at night because at noon has a few tables with cover from the sun. Also prefer to go there with a bike on summer to go through the greek country and smell the herbs.Prefered seafood ofcource.Ask for "pastes sardeles" made in the same day. Also very quiet cause it is a dead end there.
