This place has the best meatballs I ever tasted. The prices are fair, unlike the tourist traps in many other spots. The music is great for rock fans. And the hidden beach is one of the island's finest, with no crowds, plenty of shade, a shower and a changing room.

About

Perched at the far western edge of Lesvos, The End Beach Bar lives up to its evocative name — this is about as far as the road goes on the island, and arriving here feels like reaching a reward after the long, winding drive through volcanic hills and olive groves to the village of Sigri. With the open Aegean stretching unbroken toward the horizon and the rugged coastline of one of Greece's most remote corners as a backdrop, the setting alone makes this bar worth seeking out. Sigri itself is a quietly captivating place, a small fishing village that moves to its own unhurried rhythm, and The End captures that spirit perfectly.

Visitors can settle in with a cold drink — local beers, Greek spirits, or a refreshing cocktail — and simply let the afternoon dissolve into the sound of waves and the salt-tinged breeze. The bar's position near the beach makes it a natural gathering point for swimmers, sailors, and road-trippers who have made the pilgrimage to this lesser-visited corner of Lesvos. As the sun descends toward the water in the early evening, the western-facing aspect delivers some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island, painting the sky in colours that feel almost theatrical against the dark silhouette of the petrified forest hills nearby.

Whether you stop for a single cold Mythos after an afternoon exploring the nearby Sigri Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest or linger long into the evening watching the stars emerge over the Aegean, The End Beach Bar offers something increasingly rare in the Mediterranean: a genuinely unhurried, unpretentious place at the edge of the world where time slows down and the view does the talking.

Before you go

What to expect

Settle into a sun-bleached chair with a cold drink and let the wide-open Aegean do its work — this is a place people arrive at, kick off their sandals, and end up staying far longer than planned. The westward-facing position means the bar turns into a front-row seat for some of the island's most theatrical sunsets, drawing swimmers off the beach and road-trippers who made the long drive out to Sigri for exactly this moment.

Best time to visit

June through September for swimming and sunsets; a weekday visit in July or August will beat the small car park filling up.

How to get there

From Mytilene, follow the main cross-island road west toward Sigri — allow roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on stops along the way. The bar sits at the shore end of the village, steps from the beach.

I’m not one to make quick judgments or leave harsh reviews for places, but this one unfortunately warrants it. I'm genuinely puzzled as to how this place managed to receive an average rating of 4.7 stars from around fifty reviews. This spot appears to be a gathering place for campers from the surrounding area, and they seem content with it, likely because it’s the only option nearby offering food, some shade, and a toilet—though the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. There are several areas that need significant improvement: 1, All the chairs were covered in dust. We had to clean them ourselves. 2, The inside of this small café was filthy. They had sticky fly traps hanging from the lamps, which seemed effective given the number of dead flies stuck to them. However, the traps were old and clearly hadn’t been changed in a while. 3, There was no proper staff. We interacted with three different people, assuming they were responsible, only to find out they were other customers trying to help out. 4, We ordered meatballs, salad, fries, and sardines (as these were the only items on the menu). A limited menu is fine, but the presentation was dreadful and nothing like the photos in previous reviews. 5, When it came time to pay, the owner or responsible person was nowhere to be found. They never showed up, possibly due to illness or needing to step out briefly. Another customer ended up assisting with the payment, but she didn’t have a price list. She only knew the price of the meatballs (8 Euros), which consisted of just eight small pieces.

We were positively surprised by the quality of the light lunch and coffee we had here! Amazingly tasty! The place is a cool alternative place under the trees by the splendid beach. Very relaxing atmosphere, great music and service. Highly recommended!
