A beautiful place with no fish whatsoever. I looked everywhere, even in the toilet tank upstairs. No evidence of fish. I guess it's too lazy to go upstairs. I'll search better downstairs next time. Do not feed the dogs, they drink tequila.

About

Lazy Fish is a laid-back bar tucked into the quiet coastal settlement of Alyfada, on the northern shore of Lesvos where the pace of life slows to match the unhurried rhythm of the Aegean. With a name that perfectly captures its spirit, this is the kind of place where you arrive for one drink and find yourself still there as the sun melts into the sea. Whether perched with a cold Mythos beer, a glass of local ouzo, or a freshly mixed cocktail, guests are invited to do exactly what the name suggests — nothing in any particular hurry.

The bar's setting near the water gives it a distinctly local character, drawing a mix of villagers and travellers who have ventured off the beaten path to discover this quieter stretch of the island's coast. Alyfada itself is a small, unpretentious community far from the tourist bustle of Mytilene or Molyvos, and Lazy Fish fits that mood well — unhurried, genuine, and welcoming. It offers a chance to experience Lesvos as the islanders themselves know it, sharing a table with strangers who quickly become acquaintances over the universal language of a good drink and a sea breeze.

For visitors exploring the northern reaches of the island, Lazy Fish makes for an ideal stop to decompress after a day of sightseeing, swimming, or simply driving the winding coastal roads. There is something deeply restorative about sitting here as the light softens over the water, listening to the sounds of a small Greek village settling into its evening — a reminder that the best moments in travel are rarely the ones you planned.

Before you go

What to expect

You settle near the water with a cold Mythos or a glass of ouzo and find the evening quietly expanding around you — no agenda, no hurry. The crowd is a natural mix of villagers and travellers who've made the deliberate choice to find this stretch of coast, and conversation tends to happen on its own. By the time the light thins over the Aegean, leaving feels like an afterthought.

Best time to visit

Late spring through early autumn is ideal; July and August bring warmer evenings and a livelier, more mixed crowd.

How to get there

Alyfada sits on the northern coast of Lesvos, roughly 40 minutes by car from Mytilene along the north-coast road; the bar is near the waterfront of the settlement.

Song choices are amazing but they only had 3 cocktails available so that was a bummer. It was extremely crowded before 22-23 but then everyone left and nearly at 2am it was crowded again.

Fun nightclub with good music and a diverse crowd. They don't serve cocktails after a certain time so that was annoying.

Cosy place with nice music. Too bad that people are still allowed to smoke inside in Greece though...

I've visited quite a few times, a decent place with decent people running it. It's got a great vibe and good music going around, plus prices are good. Would recommend.
