About
Tucked into the vibrant streets of Mytilini, the island's bustling capital, Martano Pizza offers a welcome slice of Italian-inspired comfort in the heart of the eastern Aegean. The restaurant brings the straightforward pleasures of wood-fired or oven-baked pizza to a town better known for its ouzo and fresh seafood, making it a favourite among locals and visitors who find themselves craving something familiar after days of Greek culinary exploration.
The setting in Mytilini puts guests within easy reach of the town's waterfront promenade, its neoclassical architecture, and the lively café culture that defines everyday life here. Martano serves as a relaxed gathering spot where you can refuel between sightseeing without ceremony or fuss. Whether you are stopping in for a quick lunch after visiting the nearby archaeological museum or settling in for a casual evening meal, the menu offers an approachable alternative to the traditional taverna experience.
For travellers spending a night or two in Mytilini before fanning out across the island, Martano Pizza is a practical and enjoyable option that rounds out the dining landscape of the capital. It speaks to the cosmopolitan character of Mytilini itself — a port city that has always absorbed outside influences while remaining distinctly its own place — and provides a convivial, no-pressure atmosphere that suits the unhurried rhythm of island life.
Before you go
What to expect
Stepping inside feels like a deliberate detour from the harbour tavernas — the smell of baking dough, melted cheese, and a kitchen that knows what it is doing. Tables fill with a mix of locals taking a weeknight break and visitors who have had their fill of fried calamari and want something different. The atmosphere is unpretentious and efficient without feeling rushed.
Best time to visit
Open year-round; summer evenings draw a lively crowd, so arriving early avoids a wait.
How to get there
Martano is right in Mytilini town, a short walk from the harbour promenade — no car needed if you are already staying in the capital.

Nothing special and I expected more from the pizza. And it was a bit expensive for its worth.

We ordered Galo Pasta and Barbeque Pizza. All was so fullfilling. So delicious. They serve bread with butter and olive paste and 1,5 liter water while our orders was being prepared, prices included. Highly recommended. Also, please keep in mind that it shows they are opening at 11 o'clock in Google Maps but they said they are opening at 12 o'clock.

Nice, clean and neat place, very helpful and amazing staff. The restaurant is mainly serving pizza but they also have many other options to choose from the menu.

One of best pizza in Mitillini 😁 Edit: went again to the other Martano, near the Port. Place was quite busy for a Monday, staff spoke English and the pizza was good. Of course it is not Italian Pizza (they put Gouda cheese with mozzarella) and the dough is tick but overall there isn't better in the island in our opinion. The service is quite fast and price for a regular size pizza margherita is 10€. Regular size is the one called 10 slices. 8 slices is for small child 12 slices is huge, for 2 pax.

Everywhere was full when we went. As our 9 year old kid was quite hungry, we sat at the empty table inside. We asked for a table, they said no. We said, 'We'll get spaghetti for the child now, if there will be table at out side, we'll eat it too'. They were pretty rude. Italian restaurant but they speak neither italian nor english. As they do not understand you, they give rude answers. We barely found a table outside and sat down. I ordered calzone pizza, it had plenty of ingredients, but the dough was incredibly thick. I don't think it's worth it in terms of taste.

We apologise for the service and we hope next time you will be satisfied.
P.S.: You can also choose thinner dough.
Thank you very much.

I haven't visited them before Covid so I can't comment on the atmosphere, but their pizza tastes good and it's very reasonably priced. I recommend them.

Delicious pizza and pasta place. Fast service - huge, huge calzone for 7.50. Really polite staff. Nice open window outdoor seating. The other side shows a hot counter.
