About
Protypo Ktiniatreio Lesvou, which translates roughly as the Model Veterinary Clinic of Lesvos, is a veterinary services facility located near the quiet settlement of Alyfada in the central part of the island. Lesvos has long been shaped by pastoral traditions, and animal husbandry — from sheep and goats grazing the olive-covered hillsides to the working animals that have sustained rural communities for generations — remains a living part of island life. A dedicated veterinary presence in this part of Lesvos reflects the ongoing importance of that agricultural heritage and the care local farmers and families invest in their animals.
For most visitors, a veterinary clinic may not appear on the typical itinerary, but travelers journeying with pets will find reassurance in knowing that professional animal care is accessible in this part of the island. Lesvos is increasingly welcoming to tourists who bring dogs and other companions on their travels, and having a reliable point of contact for veterinary needs can make the difference between a worry-free stay and an anxious one. The clinic serves both the local rural community and visiting animal owners, offering a practical anchor of care in an otherwise rural stretch of the island.
The setting near Alyfada places the clinic within easy reach of the island's quieter interior roads, making it accessible from villages across the central region. Whether you are a farmer with livestock, a local resident, or a traveler passing through with a four-legged companion, Protypo Ktiniatreio Lesvou represents the kind of essential, community-rooted service that keeps both the agricultural traditions and the everyday rhythms of Lesvos running smoothly.
Before you go
What to expect
This is a working veterinary clinic, not a visitor attraction — but if you are traveling with a dog or other pet, it is one of the most practical places to know about on the island. The clinic serves both the island's farming community and visiting pet owners, covering everything from routine care to urgent needs. Having its contact details to hand can turn a potentially stressful situation into a manageable one.
Best time to visit
Open year-round; if you are traveling with pets during the busy summer months, it is worth confirming hours before you go.
How to get there
The clinic is within about a kilometer of Mytilene's town center — a very short drive from the port or main square.

"We brought our dog, Rex, to the clinic in July for check-ups and neutering, and we were thoroughly impressed with the care he received. The entire team was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making both Rex and us feel at ease. Dr. Dimitris Malakis showed exceptional gentleness and expertise, ensuring Rex's comfort throughout the process. His follow-up care was outstanding, reflecting the clinic's commitment to top-notch animal care. We highly recommend their services to any pet owner seeking compassionate and professional veterinary care!"

All of them are excellent! I wish they had taken over our Keitoula from the beginning. Now, God help us. The children did their job more than enough, a very difficult fibrosarcoma surgery.
