Sugar House
Visitors say
The quality of service is good. There is a wide variety of dishes, and they all look delicious. There is outdoor seating available. The ambiance is excellent. It is open on Sundays and does not have a siesta. I recommend it.
The ice creams are amazing I love them and I want to eat them again :( ice cream with watermelon is really fresh. The caramel one is also good. The one with sweet bread is different and it worths to try.
About
Tucked into the quiet countryside near the village of Alyfada, Sugar House is the kind of destination that rewards those who wander off the main tourist trail. This charming establishment captures the essence of Lesvian hospitality in sweet form, offering homemade confections, pastries, and treats that draw on the island's rich tradition of artisanal food production. Lesvos has long been celebrated for its ouzo, olive oil, and locally crafted delicacies, and Sugar House fits naturally into this proud culinary heritage, presenting visitors with a taste of the island's gentler, sweeter side.
Stopping here feels less like a transaction and more like a welcome pause in the day. Whether you are browsing handcrafted sweets to take home as gifts, enjoying something freshly made alongside a coffee, or simply soaking in the unhurried atmosphere of the rural Aegean, Sugar House offers a moment of genuine warmth. The surrounding landscape of Alyfada and its environs is typical of Lesvos at its most pastoral — olive groves, stone walls, and a pace of life that encourages lingering.
For travellers exploring the quieter interior of Lesvos beyond the beaches and archaeological sites, Sugar House represents exactly the kind of authentic, local experience that makes the island memorable. It is a reminder that some of the most lasting impressions of a place come not from monuments or vistas, but from a single, well-made sweet enjoyed in good company.
Before you go
What to expect
A small confectionery shop in Mytilini where handmade sweets and pastries reflect the island's deep artisanal food traditions. The atmosphere is unhurried and welcoming — most people linger over a coffee paired with something freshly made, then browse the treats worth carrying home. It feels like a neighbourhood stop rather than a tourist attraction, which is precisely its appeal.
Best time to visit
Open year-round as a town business; a weekday morning visit tends to be quieter and lets you browse at your own pace.
How to get there
Sugar House is in Mytilini itself, within easy walking distance of the town centre — no car needed for visitors already based in the capital.

They have big variety of dessert. I'm writing only for pistachio ice-cream. On display says, ice-cream pistachio, but when you taste, it is ALMOND flavoured green ice-cream, no sing of pistachio at all..... I felt very much disappointed

We always choose this place for a take away sweets or little ice-creams option, when going to visit friends or being invited for a party. We had there the cake for a birthday party. Also, the best ice-creams to eat with a complimentary seaview. Last year the Sugar House was our number one and this year we tried different places, however, this is still our best choice. Children always satisfied and adults happy too. FYI: One scup of ice-cream is 2€

Cute and spacious bakery serving a variety of baked goods and ice cream. The ice cream is the best in town and the waffle excellent as well. I have tried the tiramisu so far and it was good; a little too sweet for me, but probably fine for most people.
