Better than what we expected. The staff was excellent, as was the service, food and atmosphere, as well as the view. It is advised to book ahead. The only downfall is the parking, its non existent.

About

Antonis Ouzeri is a traditional Greek ouzeri nestled near Agia Marina, a coastal village on the western shore of the Gulf of Kalloni in Lesvos. As its name suggests, this is the kind of intimate, convivial spot built around the island's deep-rooted culture of ouzo and mezedes — the small, flavourful plates that have defined Aegean hospitality for generations. Lesvos is widely regarded as the ouzo capital of Greece, producing some of the finest varieties in the country, and an ouzeri like this one is the most authentic way to experience that tradition.

Guests at Antonis can expect a spread of classic mezedes alongside their ouzo or tsipouro — think grilled octopus, fried kalamari, taramosalata, local olives, and whatever the catch of the day might bring. The pace is unhurried, the portions designed for sharing, and the atmosphere firmly local. This is not a place for a quick meal but for a long, leisurely afternoon stretching into the early evening, the way the Greeks intend it.

For visitors exploring the Kalloni area or passing through Agia Marina, Antonis Ouzeri offers a genuine taste of Lesbian taverna culture, far removed from the tourist-oriented waterfront spots found in larger towns. Its small-plates format makes it ideal for groups, and the proximity to the Gulf of Kalloni — one of the island's most scenic and ecologically rich inlets — means the setting alone is reason enough to linger.

Before you go

What to expect

At Antonis Ouzeri the pace is set by small glasses of ouzo and a slow procession of shared plates — grilled octopus, fried kalamari, briny local olives, and whatever came in fresh that morning from the gulf. The crowd is mostly local, the conversation loud and easy, and nobody is in any hurry to leave. Come expecting a long, generous afternoon rather than a quick lunch.

Best time to visit

Late spring through early autumn is ideal; the long summer evenings suit the leisurely ouzeri tradition perfectly, though July and August bring bigger crowds.

How to get there

The ouzeri sits near Agia Marina, roughly a 10–15 minute drive from Mytilene following the coastal road toward the Gulf of Kalloni.

Definitely overpriced, 41 eur for 1 person, with 1 karafaki ouzo, one starter and 2 extra small main courses since each was starter like size!! 14 eur for τριγωνα!!! This is definitely overtourism. You should be respecting your starting point!

We had dinner in mitilini lesvos greece where we tried several seafood. In fact it was our second experience there that we think first time we were more satisfied. However this time smoked mackerel that we tried was so tasty. It was too much crowded to our chance, therefore service was some diffucult. Despite all we can go next time again when we visit mitilini. We were there in the evening second time however first time it was noon and there is a very nice sea view.

The view of the place was nice but that was the only good thing. There was dirt and insects everywhere. The service was very rude. We ordered a lot of things. Only the fries were good. It was impossible to chew the calamari. The shrimp was also a terrible experience. It was the worst calamari I've ever eaten in my life.

Antonis is a captivating traditional taverna that impeccably balances the flavors of both seafood and meat dishes, creating a culinary experience that's truly memorable. The setting itself is steeped in a nostalgic, vintage atmosphere, transporting you to a timeless era, while the breathtaking views add an enchanting touch to your visit.

Never in my life have I ever asked for a steak and it came cut into pieces. The sausages smelt something funny. The Tyrokafteri was not spicy just salty. Service and staff was friendly and that's the only positive. Never AGAIN!!!

In my professional opinion, the primary reason for the positive feedback appears to be the establishment's advantageous location and the captivating view it offers. While the side dishes, such as tzatziki and ladotyri, are commendable for their exceptional flavors, the main seafood dishes, particularly the calamari and grilled jumbo prawns, unfortunately fall short of expectations and fail to deliver a satisfying culinary experience.

Wonderful local place in a gorgeous setting with a view of Mytilene Town and the coast of Turkey across the sea. Delicious food at very good prices and friendly service. Will definitely be back!

We loved our experience at Antonis Taverna in Mytilini. The food, service, and view were all outstanding. They had everything Lesvos has to offer on the menu, and every dish was executed perfectly. The panoramic view was stunning, adding to the wonderful atmosphere. The reason I go to Lesvos is to eat food like this, and I thank them for nailing it. Highly recommended!
