Only been once here. People were very helpful, place was clean and well organised.
In recent years, there have been leaps and bounds and the service is more than satisfactory. It operates 24 hours a day, and generally appointments are not too long. Since it is in the city center, it usually serves more than the hospital.

As part of the EFKA (Unified Social Security Entity) network, this facility provides insured residents and eligible visitors with access to medical consultations, diagnostics, and general health services at low or no direct cost, making it an important resource for both locals and travelers who find themselves in need of medical attention during their stay on the island.
For visitors to Lesvos, knowing the location of a public medical center in Mytilini can offer genuine peace of mind. Whether you are dealing with a minor ailment, require a prescription renewal, or need a referral to a specialist, EFKA Mytilini serves as a practical first point of contact within the public health system. Situated in the island's main urban center, it is accessible by public transport and within reach of most accommodation in and around Mytilini, ensuring that medical support is never far away during your travels.
Before you go
What to expect
A functional public health clinic rather than a tourist destination — expect a waiting room, administrative counters, and general practitioners handling consultations and referrals. Staff speak Greek primarily, though some medical personnel may have basic English. It operates within Greece's national insurance system, meaning EU health card holders and insured residents can access care at little or no cost.
Best time to visit
Weekday mornings tend to have shorter waits; avoid Monday after a long weekend.
How to get there
The clinic is in central Mytilini, less than a kilometre from the main harbour — easily walkable from most hotels in the city centre, or a short taxi ride from anywhere in town.

For the first time, an unpleasant experience from a Dentist at EFKA. In general, I have no complaints about EFKA so far regarding its service and doctors. I happened to have the first unpleasant one today, however. Specifically, I had booked an appointment through the MyHealth application for May 6, 2025, in the time zone 08:00–11:00. The appointment was registered for 08:00, however, due to professional obligations, I arrived at approximately 09:00. Although I understand the responsibility for the delay, I found that there was no waiting or other patients in the area. When I informed Mr. Katsamatsa (the dentist at the EFKA Mytilene branch) that I had an appointment at 08:00, he immediately informed me that I had missed it and that I would have to reschedule a new one. I decided to wait, as my partner had an appointment at 12:00, and in between, three other patients were seen, while he was finally examined at 10:00 — two hours earlier than his scheduled appointment — without any waiting. The entire procedure was completed at 10:45. Despite the fact that there was clear availability, the doctor refused to see me for a simple teeth cleaning that lasted only 10 minutes. Throughout the entire procedure, there was no workload, while later, when I remained in the room to file an official complaint with the manager, I noticed Mr. Katsamatsa wandering the corridors, drinking coffee and smoking. As a citizen who works and pays a significant amount of money each month through contributions to EFKA, I find it inconceivable that I should be treated with indifference and rigidity by doctors in the system, especially when there are no objective reasons for refusing to provide service. I believe that the attitude of the doctor in question offends both me personally and the role assigned to him in the context of public health.

Non-existent communication, the phone has been ringing for 25 minutes straight with no answer. This is the third time I've tried to reach someone for the pensions department. I've sent 3 messages, of course without any response there either. I'm from Chios, but I probably need to travel there to get in like the colleague with the axe inside, maybe we'll see a white day.
